This silver amulet pendant combines profound spiritual meaning with the expressiveness of a jewel. Its thoughtful composition, iconic images, and contrasting relief make it more than just a decoration, but a symbol of faith and inner strength. Every detail here carries meaning, and its double-sided design reveals the idea of integrity and protection embodied in traditional Christian iconography.
Front:
At the center of the composition is Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, depicted in full bishop's vestments. His head is crowned with a mitre and cross, with an image of the Savior in the center. His right hand is raised in a blessing gesture, with the fingers positioned in the canonical manner. In his left hand is a Gospel book with an ornamented frame and a cross. A panagia with the face of the Mother of God is clearly visible on his chest. On either side of the head are the abbreviated inscriptions "St." and "Nik." The background is rendered in a dotted texture, enhancing the depth of the relief, while the halo is polished smooth, creating a striking contrast. The edges are framed by a discreet frame, emphasizing the composition.
Reverse:
The Holy Trinity is depicted in a classical iconographic interpretation—three angels seated at a table. The central figure is highlighted by the symmetry of her pose and the folds of her garments. In front of them is a table with a chalice—a symbol of sacrifice. Architectural forms and a tree, alluding to the Oak of Mamre, are discernible in the background. The inscription "Holy Trinity" appears at the top. All elements—from the wings to the draperies—are meticulously detailed and enhanced with blackening, lending expressiveness and volume to the image.
